The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, presented to him by Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, according to information from DW.
On January 15, a meeting took place at the White House between Trump and Machado, during which the award was handed over.
Maria Corina, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate of 2022, presented the award to Trump, noting his "unique commitment to our freedom".
Trump announced this event through his page on the social network Truth Social.
"Maria gave me the Nobel Peace Prize for my work. It was a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you, Maria!" — Trump wrote.
It is important to note that the Norwegian Nobel Institute, responsible for awarding the prizes, clarified that laureates are not allowed to transfer their prizes to others, share them, or refuse them.
