Trump received the Nobel Peace Prize medal from Machado

Maria Corina Machado reported that her meeting with Trump was a historic moment for Venezuelans. She noted that after handing over the medal at the gates of the White House, she addressed her supporters, assuring them of President Trump's support.

“I presented the President of the United States with the Nobel Peace Prize medal,” Machado said.

She called this gesture “a sign of recognition of his unique commitment to our freedom.” At the same time, according to Fox News, Trump did agree to accept the award.

In light of recent events, when American special forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Trump refused to support Machado as the new leader of the country, instead communicating with acting President Delcy Rodriguez, who previously held the position of Vice President.

“The medal can change hands”

After the meeting, Machado emphasized that the medal can be passed on, but the Nobel Prize itself remains with the laureate. She cited the example of Marquis de Lafayette, who gifted a medal to Simon Bolivar.

This shows the brotherhood between Venezuela and the United States in their struggle for freedom, Machado noted. She added that “after 200 years, the people of Bolivar are returning the medal, in recognition of his unique commitment to our freedom.”
