Iran's Foreign Minister Rejects Claims of Mass Casualties in Protests
In response to a question about the number of casualties, Western media reported figures ranging from 2,500 to 12,000 people. However, Araqchi claims that the actual losses are "in the hundreds." He explained that most of the violence was provoked by terrorists who infiltrated the protests and opened fire on police and civilians in order to increase the number of casualties and draw the U.S. into the conflict.
“President Trump stated that he would intervene if there are casualties. And that is exactly what they wanted to achieve by involving him,” the minister added.
Furthermore, Araqchi emphasized that Iranian authorities fully control the situation and do not plan mass shootings of protesters. He assured that there is currently "calm" in the country.
