According to ICE representatives, the woman was killed after, they claim, she attempted to use her vehicle as a weapon, trying to run over the agency's agents.
Immigration officials characterized the incident as an "act of domestic terrorism," asserting that the officer acted in self-defense. The scene quickly gathered numerous witnesses who labeled the incident a murder and called for ICE to leave the state.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticized the official stance, calling it "nonsense" and condemning the "reckless use of force" by the agency.
According to CBS, around two thousand ICE officers were previously sent to Minneapolis, where they arrested more than 150 individuals. The charges relate to cases of fraud within state-funded programs. ICE activity in the area has noticeably increased in recent weeks.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of Donald Trump's second presidential term, raids aimed at deporting illegal migrants have been actively conducted.
