The national karate-do championship has started in Bishkek.
Today, April 7, the national karate-do championship opened in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, taking place at the Sports Palace named after Kaba Uulu Kojomkul. This information was provided by the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports.
Present at the opening ceremony were Kanaybek Dumanaev, Deputy Director of the Directorate for Non-Olympic Sports, as well as representatives of the National Shotokan WSF Karate Federation and the athletes themselves.
During the opening, honorary certificates were awarded to athletes and coaches who achieved outstanding results in 2025.
A total of 165 athletes are participating in the competition. Men are competing in the categories of up to 60 kg, 67 kg, 75 kg, 84 kg, and over 85 kg.
The female participants are represented in the categories of up to 50 kg, 55 kg, 61 kg, 68 kg, and over 65 kg.
