Recently, on February 21 and 22, the city championship and competition in Shotokan karate-do took place in Bishkek, as reported by the city administration.
About 450 athletes from various sports clubs and sections of the city participated in these competitions.
The competitions were organized in two main karate disciplines:
- kata - demonstration of techniques, accuracy of movements, sequence, and concentration;
- kumite - sparring matches in which participants demonstrated speed, accuracy, and strategic thinking.
In the team standings, the prize places were distributed as follows:
- 1st place - SKIF-Bishkek club (55 gold, 52 silver, and 58 bronze medals);
- 2nd place - STAR karate club (32 gold, 35 silver, and 24 bronze medals);
- 3rd place - Shito-ryu karate club (1 bronze medal).
