In the capital, at the Kaba Uulu Kozhomkul Sports Palace, the championship of the Kyrgyz Republic in karate-do has commenced.
The grand opening gathered many participants, including Kanybek Dumanaev, the Deputy Director of the Directorate for Non-Olympic Sports of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, representatives of the National Shotokan WSF Karate Federation, as well as the athletes themselves.
During the ceremony, athletes and coaches who achieved high results in karate in the past 2025 year were awarded with honorary certificates.
This tournament features 165 athletes. The male participants are divided into weight categories: up to 60 kg, up to 67 kg, up to 75 kg, up to 84 kg, and over 85 kg. Women will compete in the categories: up to 50 kg, up to 55 kg, up to 61 kg, up to 68 kg, and over 65 kg.
