
The city championship and youth championship in Shotokan Karate-do took place on February 21 and 22 in Bishkek. This information was provided by the city administration.
Approximately 450 athletes representing various sports clubs and sections of the city participated in the competitions.
The tournament consisted of two main disciplines:
- kata, which includes the demonstration of technical elements, precision of movements, and inner concentration;
- kumite, where participants competed in speed, accuracy, and tactical thinking.
As a result of the competitions, winners and prizewinners were named in different age and weight categories, who were awarded diplomas and medals.
In the team standings, the prize places were distributed as follows:
- 1st place was taken by the SKIF-Bishkek club with 55 gold, 52 silver, and 58 bronze medals;
- 2nd place went to the STAR karate club with 32 gold, 35 silver, and 24 bronze medals;
- 3rd place was awarded to the Shito-ryu karate club, which won 1 bronze medal.
