The honored coach of the Kyrgyz SSR Boris Podkorytov has passed away


The Kyrgyz Football Union has announced the passing of Boris Podkorytov, a renowned football player and honored coach of the Kyrgyz SSR, at the age of 77.

Boris Podkorytov was born on May 3, 1948, in the city of Frunze. He took his first steps in football under the guidance of children's coach Vladimir Korobchenko. In 1966, he was invited to the experimental national team of the USSR after the final of the all-Union youth tournament, where the team was preparing for the Olympic Games in Mexico City.

Throughout his playing career, Podkorytov played for the Moscow club "Lokomotiv" and Frunze's "Alga," where he eventually became the captain.

After finishing his playing career, he switched to coaching. In 1980, Boris took charge of "Alga," and later worked abroad, including in Algeria, where in 1988 he led one of the local clubs to the championship.

Over the years, he coached Kazakhstani teams and was part of the coaching staff of the Kazakhstan national team. Upon returning to Kyrgyzstan, Podkorytov worked with the club "Dordoi-Dynamo," with which he repeatedly became the national champion and the holder of the Kyrgyzstan Cup. The team also won the AFC President's Cup twice in 2006 and 2007.

In 2006, he headed the national team of Kyrgyzstan and later became the general director of "Dordoi-Dynamo," working as a consultant coach for the national team.
