Boris Podkorytov was born on May 3, 1948, in Frunze. His football journey began under the guidance of the famous youth coach Vladimir Korobchenko. In 1966, after the final of the all-Union youth tournament, he was invited to the experimental USSR national team preparing for the Olympic Games in Mexico City. In this squad, he played alongside legends such as Yevgeny Lovchev and Sergey Olshansky.
On the field, Podkorytov defended the colors of Moscow's "Lokomotiv" and captained "Alga," which became his second home.
After finishing his playing career, he focused on coaching. Having received education at coaching courses in Moscow, in 1980 Boris became the head coach of Frunze's "Alga." His career took him abroad, particularly to Algeria, where in 1988 he managed to lead one of the teams to championship victory.
For several years, Podkorytov coached Kazakh clubs such as "Kainar," "Astana," and "Zhetysu," and also participated in the coaching staff of the national team of Kazakhstan.
Upon returning to Kyrgyzstan, he continued his work with the "Dordoi-Dynamo" club, leading it to numerous successes. Under his guidance, the team repeatedly became the national champion and the holder of the Kyrgyzstan Cup, as well as winning the AFC President's Cup in 2006 and 2007.
In 2006, Boris Podkorytov headed the Kyrgyz national team, and later, in 2008, took the position of general director of the "Dordoi" club. Since 2011, he worked as a consultant coach for the national team.
Throughout his career, Boris Podkorytov was repeatedly named Coach of the Year and was rightly considered one of the most respected and decorated mentors in the history of Kyrgyz football.
The Kyrgyz Football Union expresses its sincere condolences to all who knew Boris Podkorytov, his family, friends, and colleagues, as well as to the entire football community.
