AFC U-23 Cup: Uzbekistan Advances to Playoffs, Iran and Qatar Fail to Score Any Goals

The group stage of the U-23 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia has concluded, determining three more teams that have advanced to the knockout stage.

On January 13, decisive matches took place in Groups B and C.

The Uzbekistan national team won against South Korea with a score of 2:0, securing first place in the group and advancing to the playoffs. Kyrgyzstan, which also played against Uzbekistan in the qualifying round for the Asian Cup in Bishkek, finished that match in a draw and advanced to the final stage in first place.

The South Korean team also made it to the quarter-finals after Iran's unexpected defeat to Lebanon with a score of 0:1. The Iranians, who did not score any goals in this tournament, finished last in their group.

Kyrgyzstan also faced the Iranian national team at the tournament in Manas, where they managed to snatch a victory with a score of 2:1, scoring two goals in the closing moments of the match.

In second place in Group C for the playoffs was the UAE national team, which will now face Vietnam.

Japan won the group, having triumphed in all three of its matches. Meanwhile, the Qatari national team finished the tournament in last place, losing all of its matches with a score of zero.

The group stage will conclude on January 14 with matches in Group D, which will determine two more participants for the playoffs.
