Bishkek City Court Acquitted the Defendants in the Kemir-Abad Case
On March 27 of this year, the Bishkek City Court issued a ruling acquitting all defendants in the Kempiir-Abad case, as reported by the judicial authority.
The case involved 22 activists, including politicians and journalists. Many of them had been under house arrest during the investigation.
"What a joy! Finally, a conclusion has been reached in the Kempiir-Abad case! Congratulations to everyone who was acquitted, and I express my immense gratitude to their lawyers! You are true heroes!" - wrote human rights defender Gulshaiyr Adbirasulova on her social media, commenting on the results of the appeal.
It is worth recalling that the activists were detained in October 2022 when they were accused of organizing mass riots. They were later charged under Article 326 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
