In the Bishkek City Court today, March 27, the proceedings continued regarding the case of the Kemin-Abad activists, among whom are 22 individuals, including politicians and journalists. Many of them are under house arrest.

Among the accused in this case are: Mambetjunus Abylov, Aydanbek Akmatov, Nurlan Asanbekov, Akylbek Aitbaev, Azimbek Beknazarov, Marat Bayazov, Erlan Bekchoro uulu, Aibek Buzurmankulov, Atai Beyshenbek uulu, Ravshan Zheenbekov, Gulnara Dzhurabaeva, Chyngyz Kaparov, Rita Karasartova, Zhenish Moldokmatov, Ulukbek Mamatayev, Temir Mahmudov, Talaybek Mademinov, Klara Sooronkulova, Perizat Suranova, Asiya Sasykbaeva, Ilgiz Saryldyk uulu (also known as Ilgiz Shamenov), and Shabdan Ali.

It is important to note that the agreement with Uzbekistan, signed in the fall of 2022 regarding the determination of the state border, became the cause of a political scandal. In October 2022, activists protesting against this agreement were detained, including on charges of organizing mass riots (Article 278). Part of the case materials was classified, which limited the lawyers' access to information. Later, the accused were also charged under Article 326 "Violent seizure of power".

On June 14, the court issued an acquittal, but the prosecutor's office requested the cancellation of this decision in the appellate court.

Currently, the case is under review in the second instance.
