After her release, Makhabat expressed gratitude to everyone who supported her over the past two years.

“For two years I felt lonely, as if I were left without support. But thanks to the help of people, international organizations, and friends from different countries — such as England, Canada, France, and Estonia — I was able to endure it. First and foremost, this is a miracle from God,” she noted.

The journalist also stated her intentions to continue her work: “We spent two years conducting investigations in Kyrgyzstan and now intend to move forward — possibly starting international investigations.”
In the near future, Makhabat plans to meet with her family, loved ones, and her team. “I am very grateful to everyone who was there, even for the smallest help. Thank you all,” she added.

It is worth noting that earlier the Lenin District Court of Bishkek changed her measure of restraint and released her from custody; however, in other aspects, including the termination of the criminal case, the request was denied. The case was sent for reconsideration after the Supreme Court overturned the verdict.

Makhabat Tajibek kyzy is a journalist and head of the Temirov LIVE project, as well as the wife of investigative journalist Bolot Temirov. Together, they conducted anti-corruption investigations that caused a wide public resonance. Previously, Bolot Temirov was expelled from Kyrgyzstan and stripped of his citizenship.
