The Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic has decided to reconsider the case of journalist Mahabat Tajibek kyzy, the wife of renowned investigator Bolot Temirov, sending the case materials back to the district court.

According to information, the judicial panel annulled all previous decisions made by three instances and appointed a new panel of judges for the retrial.

Mahabat Tajibek kyzy is the head of the Temirov LIVE project. She was arrested in January 2024 along with other employees of media projects, including "Ayt ait dese," on charges of organizing mass riots.

On October 10, 2024, the Lenin District Court in Bishkek sentenced her to six years in prison. Later, the city court upheld this sentence, and the Supreme Court confirmed it in February 2025.

After that, the lawyers filed a request for a review of the case based on newly discovered circumstances. As a result, the Supreme Court decided to return the case for reconsideration to the district court.

Earlier, international human rights organizations and representatives of the media community expressed demands for a review of the sentence for the journalist.
