Kyrgyzstan is building the future: about 50 new schools will open in 2026

As part of the national educational program, Kyrgyzstan is expected to open about 50 new educational institutions by 2026. Among them, 20 schools will be established in Bishkek, 10 in Osh, 6 in Manas, as well as 5 schools and 7 educational buildings in the capital, funded by the Saudi Development Fund, and 2 schools in Chui region.
In addition, it is planned to complete the construction of all previously started schools.

Since Sadyr Japarov took office as President of Kyrgyzstan, significant changes have been made in the education sector. From 2021 to 2025, the construction and reconstruction of 673 educational infrastructure facilities were completed. Among them:

The annual statistics are as follows:

Significant attention is also being paid to the development of preschool education. At a ceremony held on March 17, a capsule was laid for the foundation of a specialized kindergarten for children with disabilities called “Үмүт чырагы” (Hope Light). The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev, noted that by 2030, the goal is to achieve a preschool education coverage of at least 80%.
“From a coverage of 28.3% in 2024, this figure increased to 51% in 2025. Currently, more than 320,000 children are enrolled in 2,344 kindergartens across the country,” said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.

As of 2025, 367 institutions underwent reformatting, which allowed for the opening of 518 additional groups and reaching 13,447 children. The return of 25 previously privatized kindergartens to the state also significantly contributed to this process.
Additionally, 500 short-term kindergartens and 60 development centers were opened in the country. A pilot project for state voucher funding has started, offering additional support to children from low-income families and children with disabilities.

Thus, the construction and modernization of educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan not only increase their number but also contribute to improving the quality of education and access to it. Efforts to develop educational infrastructure continue, and 2026 will be an important milestone on the path to achieving strategic goals in education and preschool coverage for children.
