Representatives from various government institutions attended the meeting, including the Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Agency for Religious Affairs, as well as specialists from the aviation and tourism sectors.
Mufti Abdulaziz Zakirov emphasized the importance of assessing the risks to the safety of Kyrgyz citizens in the context of current global events. Measures to protect citizens traveling to Saudi Arabia were discussed, as well as issues regarding the return of those who remained in the country after the completion of the minor pilgrimage.
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to impose a temporary restriction on the departure of Kyrgyz citizens for Umrah until the situation stabilizes.
Additionally, the participants of the meeting recommended that tourism and airline companies suspend the organization of trips for Umrah until the situation improves.
Currently, steps are being taken to resume flights by Jazeera, Flynas, and Air Arabia, which were temporarily suspended due to the circumstances.
It is worth noting that Kyrgyzstan has already begun the evacuation of its citizens from Middle Eastern countries due to the worsening situation. Previously, two special flights were carried out, bringing back 260 citizens to the country.
