A group of Kyrgyz who relocated from Tajik Murghab has appealed for assistance.
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Tabildy Muratbekov spoke about the situation faced by ethnic Kyrgyz who obtained Kyrgyz citizenship after moving from the Murghab region in Tajikistan.
According to them, despite having a Kyrgyz passport, the authorities in Tajikistan continue to draft them into military service, exerting pressure on their parents who remain in their homeland.
There are also cases where Kyrgyz passports are confiscated from citizens traveling to Murghab.
In this regard, Muratbekov appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop measures to protect the rights of ethnic Kyrgyz and to address the issue with the Tajik side.
Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziev stated that this problem will be addressed and that instructions will be given to the Kyrgyz ambassador in Tajikistan to take the necessary measures.
