This year, it is planned to install 390,000 new devices across the country
A project has been launched in Bishkek to implement 'smart' meters, which is part of a program for the digitalization of the electricity supply system, overseen by the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Energy is responsible for the implementation of this reform.
The World Bank has provided financial support for the successful execution of this project.
By 2026, it is planned to install 390,000 meters throughout the republic as part of this initiative:
- Bishkek — 91,210;
- Chui Region — 89,129;
- Osh Region — 68,242;
- Batken Region — 54,997;
- Jalal-Abad Region — 71,546.
The goal of this digitalization is to increase the transparency of electricity accounting, reduce losses of both technical and commercial nature, improve the quality of electricity supply, and develop digital infrastructure in this area.
'Smart' meters provide the ability to accurately account for electricity consumption in real-time, quickly identify technical malfunctions, prevent unauthorized connections, and generate reliable data for calculations.
Additionally, such a system promotes more efficient consumption management, allowing citizens to use energy resources rationally.
