The branch of OJSC "NESC" in Bishkek, which deals with electrical networks, is actively implementing an automated commercial electricity metering system (ACEMS).
According to PES, the main task of installing ACEMS is to improve the efficiency of electricity distribution, enhance control, and ensure accurate resource consumption accounting.
Since the beginning of 2025, 28,000 smart meters have been installed in Bishkek, distributed across the districts as follows:
• Lenin District — 9,140 pcs.
• Sverdlov District — 4,659 pcs.
• Pervomaisky District — 11,742 pcs.
• Oktyabrsky District — 2,374 pcs.
It is planned that in 2026, an additional 42,000 modern smart meters will be installed.
Smart meters have several advantages:
• transmit readings to the server in real-time;
• disconnect power supply when the permissible capacity is exceeded;
• automatically stop the supply of electricity in case of debt, with the possibility of restoration after payment;
• warn about attempts of unauthorized access;
• contribute to improving the quality of supplied energy;
• reduce the risks of electricity theft and minimize contact between the inspector and the consumer;
• protect electrical equipment from overloads.
