Nurlan Saburov, a well-known stand-up comedian, has become the subject of an investigation by the National Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan. This was reported by "RIA Novosti," citing a source in the agency.
Information about the specific reasons for the investigation is currently not being disclosed, as noted by the publication "Expert."
On February 11, the Deputy Attorney General of Kazakhstan, Galymzhan Koigeldiev, stated that it is necessary to analyze media reports regarding possible support by Nurlan Saburov for the Russian military. He indicated that any issues that may relate to violations of Article 170 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan concerning mercenarism fall under the jurisdiction of the NSC. This article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years.
On February 6, the news agencies TASS and "RIA Novosti" reported a 50-year entry ban for Nurlan Saburov into Russia. The comedian learned about this when he arrived at Vnukovo Airport from the UAE. On the same day, he flew from Moscow to Almaty.
The reasons for the decision to impose an entry ban into Russia are related to ensuring national security, as stated by sources from the agencies. There is information that the basis for this was public statements against the special operation, as well as possible violations of tax and immigration legislation. One of the TASS sources noted that one of the factors for the ban was a court decision to hold Saburov administratively liable under part 3.1 of Article 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of entry and stay rules). This ruling was issued in May 2025, and the duration of the ban can only be reduced or lifted upon review of the case in a higher court, the agency's interlocutor added.
Nurlan Saburov is a citizen of Kazakhstan who moved to Russia after finishing school. During his student years, he actively participated in KVN and later became a resident of the popular show Stand Up on the TNT channel. Since 2019, he has been hosting the show "What Happened Next?", which initially aired on YouTube and was later moved to the "VK Video" platform.
