As a result, the cost of the minimum grocery basket has increased by 106 soms, reaching 7 thousand 338 soms.
Every week, we visit the same supermarket and record price changes for the same set of products. Below is the complete information about which items we included in our basket and why.
It should be noted that prices may vary between supermarkets and markets. Stores often have promotions that allow customers to purchase goods at reduced prices.
Since we began our observations in late October 2018, the cost of the grocery basket has increased by 4 thousand 68 soms. Since the beginning of this year, the increase has been 615 soms, and compared to the same period in 2025, it has risen by 1 thousand 272 soms.
The most affordable product in our basket remains bread. Generally, fresh vegetables and fruits have the greatest impact on the overall cost.

In 2025, the price of the grocery basket increased by 686 soms. The lowest price was recorded on October 18 — 5 thousand 791 soms, while the highest was on December 6, amounting to 6 thousand 927 soms.

The nutritional standards for citizens of Kyrgyzstan were established by the government back in 2009. According to this document, every resident of the country must consume nine different types of products each month.
These standards include: 9 kilograms of bread products, 5 kilograms of meat, 8.2 kilograms of potatoes, 9 kilograms of vegetables, 10 kilograms of fruits and berries, 2 kilograms of sugar, 17 liters of milk, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 4 eggs, 100 grams of fish and fish products, and 200 grams of tea.

Based on the established minimum standard, we calculated the cost of the consumer basket for a family of four. Prices were taken from one of the supermarkets in Bishkek, where many residents have recently preferred to shop.
It should be noted that the calculations are approximate and based on government standards. Not all families have the same dietary preferences: some may not consume meat, while others may not use sugar. Therefore, this basket should not be perceived as a universal solution, but rather as a social experiment from 24.kg.
We classify bread products to include both bread and pasta and cereals. Our family is average, so we prefer apples and bananas for fruits, and onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes for vegetables. We try to choose only the essentials.
