Bishkek's grocery basket as of January 17. What has increased the most in price
Over the past week, there has been a rise in prices for meat, rice, tomatoes, onions, carrots, cabbage, and pears in Bishkek, while products such as bread, cucumbers, peppers, apples, sugar, milk, and eggs have become cheaper.

According to the data, the cost of the minimum set of products decreased by 1 som and amounted to 6,722 soms over the past week.

We visit the same supermarket weekly to monitor prices for the same set of goods. The table below provides complete information on which products were selected and what changes occurred in their prices.
It should be noted that prices may vary depending on the supermarket and market, where goods are often offered at discounts.
Since the beginning of our observation in late October 2018, the cost of the grocery set has increased by 3,452 soms. At the beginning of the year, there is a decrease of 1 som, however, compared to the same period in 2025, prices have risen by 710 soms.
The most affordable product in our set is bread. Fresh vegetables and fruits have a significant impact on the overall cost of the basket, as they are the main contributors to price fluctuations.

In 2025, the cost of the grocery basket increased by 686 soms. The lowest price was recorded on October 18 — 5,791 soms, while the maximum cost reached on December 6 — 6,927 soms.

In 2009, the government of Kyrgyzstan approved nutrition standards for the population. According to these standards, each citizen of the country should consume 9 types of products monthly.

According to the established norms, the composition includes: 9 kg of bread products, 5 kg of meat, 8.2 kg of potatoes, 9 kg of vegetables, 10 kg of fruits and berries, 2 kg of sugar, 17 liters of milk, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 4 eggs, 100 grams of fish and fish products, and 200 grams of tea.

Based on the minimum standards, we calculated the cost of the grocery basket for a family of four, based on prices from one of the supermarkets in Bishkek. Recently, many residents prefer to shop in large stores.

It should be noted that the calculations are approximate and based on the current norms established by the government. Considering that consumer habits may vary, our basket is not universal for everyone. It is more of a social experiment by 24.kg.

In the category of bread products, both bread and pasta and cereals are included. Our family, like the average one, prefers apples and bananas among fruits, and chooses onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes among vegetables. We do not add any extra products — only the essentials.
