Operations to detain illegal immigrants in Minneapolis are being halted, as announced by Tom Homan, who is responsible for border security and the deportation of illegals. His appointment was made by the U.S. administration.

“I proposed to end this operation, and President Donald Trump supported this decision,” NBC News quotes him as saying.

Homan noted that the winding down of the operation will begin this week, and he will remain in the state for some time to ensure the successful completion of the process.

“I do not wish for any more violence. Every night I pray for the safety of law enforcement and citizens,” he added.

During previous raids by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretty was shot, who worked as a nurse in the intensive care unit of a veterans' hospital. He had a license to carry a firearm and had no criminal record.

Also, on January 7, the mother of three children, Rene Nicole Good, was killed as a result of ICE raids.

It should be noted that since the beginning of his second term, Donald Trump has been pursuing a policy of mass deportation of illegal migrants.
