In 2026, 119 km of roads and six bridges will be built and reconstructed in Bishkek.

At the city council meeting, Aibek Junushaliev reported on the planned construction and reconstruction of 119 kilometers of roads and six bridges for 2026. This year, the city council's plan includes:

the construction of 19 km of new roads;
the reconstruction of 100 km of existing roads;
the construction of six bridges;
the creation of one road interchange using the local budget.

Also in the plans are the construction of 28 kilometers of sidewalks and 20 underground, as well as three above-ground pedestrian crossings.

The city council reminded that last year, 92 kilometers of roads were repaired, in 2024 — 62 kilometers, while before 2023, an average of only 17 kilometers were constructed per year.

Thus, the volumes of road construction in 2025 increased fivefold compared to previous years.

The mayor noted that the approach to road construction has changed: first of all, engineering networks are being replaced, after which the construction and major repairs of roads are carried out. The possibility of creating multi-level parking lots is also being considered.
