Earlier, $180 million was allocated for the republic's water supply access program.
In its third and final reading, the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan approved an agreement for a loan with the OPEC Fund for International Development.
According to the terms of the approved document, the republic is to receive an additional $20 million for the implementation of the first stage of the "Universal Access to Water Supply and Sanitation" program.
The loan will be issued on favorable terms: its repayment period will be 20 years, including a five-year grace period, at an interest rate of 1.25% per annum.
These funds increase the total budget of the program, which has already been set at $180 million. The project aims to modernize water infrastructure in 126 villages in the Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul regions, which will provide safe drinking water to over 425,000 residents.
