From 2006 to 2025, 327 state and municipal employees of Kyrgyzstan, as well as 28 representatives of the "Young Leaders" program, have undergone training in Japan. This information was announced by the press service of the State Agency for Public Service and Local Self-Government.

During a meeting between the agency's director, Elchibek Jantayev, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan, Hiroshi Ryuichi, issues of cooperation in the field of capacity development were discussed, including the results of the JDS scholarship program. Public servants of Kyrgyzstan have the opportunity to study for a master's and doctoral degree in Japan. The Japanese government has allocated a grant of 399 million yen (approximately $2.5 million) for the 20th cohort of the project.

During the discussion, it was proposed to increase the number of places in the JDS program to 50 (currently 20) and to expand the quota for the "Young Leaders" program to 10 places (currently 2). Ambassador Hiroshi Ryuichi confirmed his readiness to convey these proposals to the Japanese side.

The agency also noted that in 2026, the 20th anniversary of the JDS program and the 25th anniversary of the JICA representation in Kyrgyzstan will be celebrated.
