In connection with the onset of the autumn-winter period, the Ministry of Transport has announced enhanced control on mountainous road sections.
Officials have already begun inspections of vehicles at the checkpoints 'Sosnovka' and 'Kara-Kol'.
Vehicles that are not equipped with winter tires and anti-skid chains will not be allowed to pass through the specified posts.
The Ministry reminds that before traveling to mountainous areas, it is necessary to replace summer tires with winter ones and to have chains for ice protection. These measures are aimed at ensuring safety on the roads.
In addition, drivers are advised to strictly adhere to the rules of conduct at mountain passes: not to enter the oncoming lane, not to obstruct the work of snow removal equipment, and to maintain a distance of 500 meters between vehicles.
The road maintenance enterprises subordinate to the ministry conduct regular monitoring of road conditions and are ready to respond promptly to changes in conditions on the highways and passes.
