In Osh, the Bekkari pit is overflowing

A member of the Jogorku Kenesh reported on the disposal of animal carcasses in water bodies

During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Agricultural Policy, Ecology, and Environmental Protection, deputy Santalat Amanova raised the issue of the overflowing Bekkari pit in Osh, where residents are disposing of animal carcasses, even into water bodies.
She appealed to the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, to address this problem. In response, the deputy minister stated that in the case of an overflowing pit, it should be isolated and a new one dug; however, no specific measures to resolve the issue were proposed.
The Director of the Veterinary Service for Livestock Development, Pastures, and Feed, Adilet Sotovaldiyev, noted that Kyrgyzstan is gradually abandoning Bekkari pits and transitioning to the use of crematoriums.
He also reported that four crematoriums have already been established in the Issyk-Kul region funded by development funds, and a large crematorium has appeared in the Kara-Suu district. However, he did not specify when a crematorium would be acquired in Osh.
