Three police officers arrested in Uzgen district for illegal detention and use of violence

In the Uzgen district of Kyrgyzstan, a criminal case has been initiated against police officers, as reported by the country's General Prosecutor's Office.

The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, when employees of the Kurshab rural police station, abusing their official position, illegally detained two citizens. They used physical force without drawing up the appropriate procedural documents. As a result, one of the detainees, citizen A.B., sustained serious bodily injuries.

Based on this fact, on January 5, 2025, the Prosecutor's Office of the Osh region initiated a criminal case under Articles 130 part 3 point 2 and 338 part 2 point 4 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The case was transferred to the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the State Committee for National Security for the city of Osh and the Osh region for further investigation.

Currently, three police officers — "S.H.", "A.A." and "I.K." — have been detained and are in custody for two months by court decision. Investigative activities are underway.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Osh region is monitoring the progress of the criminal case and has given instructions for necessary examinations to be conducted. Based on the results of the investigation, appropriate procedural decisions will be made in accordance with the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, reports the General Prosecutor's Office.
