The Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Damir Osmonov, announced a significant reduction in child mortality in the country by 73% over the past decades. This statement was made during a meeting with Samman Jung Tapa, the representative of UNICEF in Kyrgyzstan.
Such results have been achieved thanks to joint efforts within programs aimed at improving maternal and child health.
"According to the Comprehensive Multisectoral Survey conducted in 2023 with the support of our partners, including UNICEF, the under-five mortality rate has decreased from 20 to 16.5 per 1,000 live births over the past five years," the minister emphasized.
