Ministry of Health and UNICEF Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Immunization and Digitalization

During a meeting held on February 12 at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Minister of Digital Development Temirbek Erkinov met with Samman Jung Tapa, the UNICEF representative in the country.
The meeting discussed current issues and prospects for cooperation in the field of health care, including ensuring stable vaccine supplies, improving procurement processes, and enhancing the immunization program.

UNICEF representatives provided information on significant assistance in improving the cold chain, including achievements in 80% provision of specialized equipment, as well as the supply of refrigerated trucks and pickups for the safe transportation of vaccines to medical facilities in the country.

Particular attention was paid to the quality and safety of vaccines supplied through UNICEF, as well as the digitization of procurement and logistics management processes, and the implementation of modern information technologies, which will increase transparency and strengthen the supply monitoring system. Additionally, UNICEF reported on plans to support the construction of a National Vaccine Warehouse with a total budget of $1,267,000.

The parties also discussed the coordination of joint actions within the framework of existing programs and projects aimed at strengthening the immunization system, enhancing health resilience, and expanding public access to preventive services.

During the discussion, interest was confirmed in further developing the partnership, including the preparation of a Joint Action Plan for 2026-2027, as well as expanding technical and expert support and sharing experiences in vaccine procurement management.
