According to information from the ministry's press center, the infant mortality rate was 13.5 per 1,000 live births, which is 4.2 percent lower compared to the previous year.
The causes of infant mortality remain stable: perinatal diseases are in first place, accounting for 65.7 percent of cases (1,224 children), congenital anomalies take second place (15.5 percent, or 289 children), and respiratory diseases are third (8.2 percent, or 152 children). At the same time, there has been a 28.1 percent increase in infectious and parasitic diseases.

At the same time, maternal mortality also increased. In 2024, there were 48 cases registered (34.8 per 100,000 live births), which is 35.4 percent more than in 2024, when 36 cases were recorded (25.7 per 100,000).
The Minister of Health, Kanibek Dosmambetov, noted that the rates of maternal and child mortality are important indicators of the healthcare system's condition and should be prioritized, considering the significance of preserving the lives of women and newborns.
Kanibek Dosmambetov characterized the increase in maternal mortality as a "serious signal for management" and instructed to develop a comprehensive set of necessary measures within a week. He emphasized the importance of reviewing antenatal care standards, focusing on quality, as well as the connection between primary care and hospitals. Strict routing of pregnant women, especially from at-risk groups, is also important. The minister also instructed to enhance telemedicine consultations and implement prenatal screening.
“Preventing complications, timely hospitalization, and access to qualified care must become the main priorities,” added Kanibek Dosmambetov.
