What is known about the new head of the Ministry of Health, Damirbek Osmonov?

Damirbek Osmonov has been appointed as the acting Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, replacing Kanibek Dosmambetov, who held this position since December 2025.

Osmonov was born on January 12, 1982, in Osh.

From 1999 to 2005, he studied at the medical faculty of Hacettepe University in Turkey under a government program.

From April 2006 to April 2012, Damirbek completed his residency at the Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Research and Training Hospital in Istanbul.

From April to November 2012, he worked in the cardiology department of Taksim German Hospital in Istanbul.

From November 2012 to 2015, Osmonov served as the head of the cardiology department at the Sema Clinic in Almaty.

Since March 2016, he has been working as a cardiologist, functional diagnostics physician, interventional cardiologist, invasive arrhythmologist, and chief physician at the BIKARD clinic.

Osmonov is a member of several professional societies, including the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), and the American College of Cardiology.

Additionally, he serves as the editor-in-chief of the international publication World Research Journal of Cardiology and is a visiting professor at the Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University.

He has also been a member of the Academic Council at the Ministry of Health.

In December 2022, Osmonov was awarded the "Dank" medal by the decree of President Sadyr Japarov.
