A new digital inventory system for medical equipment called SAMEDIS is being launched in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

On February 17, a meeting took place where the First Deputy Minister of Health, Aibek Matkerimov, discussed the current status of the implementation of the sectoral program "Health V" with Indira Moldogazieva, a representative of the German Development Bank (KfW), and project manager of the consulting company GITEC-IGIP, Kerez Kelishova. Important topics of discussion included issues of technical support, data updating, and ensuring the sustainable operation of the system in medical institutions.

As part of the meeting, equipment was handed over: 150 printers and 1000 cartridges were transferred to medical institutions, which will assist in automating processes and maintaining digital records.

The Ministry of Health noted that staff from all medical institutions where the SAMEDIS system has been implemented have already undergone training, and the system is now operational. In the regions, the inventory of medical equipment is ongoing, with healthcare facilities in Bishkek and the Chui region successfully completing the main phase and beginning regular data updates.

Employees of the relevant departments working with the database have also received additional training to ensure the quality of the information entered. In the future, the accounting of medical equipment will be carried out by the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharmacia."

Aibek Matkerimov expressed gratitude to the German Development Bank (KfW) and the consulting company GITEC-IGIP for their support, emphasizing that this cooperation contributes to improving the resilience and efficiency of the healthcare system in the country.

In the next phase of the project, technical support and further development of digital solutions in healthcare will be organized.
