The convict sentenced for calls to mass riots will be released for his mother's funeral
41-year-old Ernis Zheentaev, sentenced under the article "Calls for mass riots," will have the opportunity to attend his mother's funeral, who passed away on February 27. This was confirmed by representatives of the State Penitentiary Service of Kyrgyzstan.

It became known that the decision for temporary release was made by the country's presidential administration following a request from Zheentaev's relatives.

According to information from the State Penitentiary Service, escorts will accompany him to the funeral in the coming days.

Recall that in February 2026, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek sentenced Zheentaev to six years in prison under Article 278 Part 3 "Calls for mass riots" and Article 332 Part 1 "Manufacturing, distributing, transporting, or sending extremist materials" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Ernis Zheentaev, who worked as a designer for several media outlets, was detained in November 2025. A criminal case was initiated against him, and he has already been found guilty. Lawyer Nurbek Sydykov and relatives intend to appeal this decision in higher courts. Meanwhile, the lawyer noted that a copy of the verdict has not yet been delivered to the defense.
