The convict sentenced under the article on calls for mass riots is requested to be released for his mother's funeral
In February 2026, a court in the Pervomaisky district of Bishkek sentenced 41-year-old Ernist Zheenetaev to six years under Article 278, Part 3 "Calls for mass riots" and Article 332, Part 1 "Manufacturing, distribution, transportation, or mailing of extremist materials" of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.

Zheenetaev, who worked as a designer for various print publications, was detained in November 2025. After a criminal case was initiated, he was convicted, and his family and lawyer plan to appeal the verdict in a higher court.

Currently, the convict is in a detention center in Bishkek.

According to Zheenetaev's family members, his mother, who had been suffering from a serious illness, passed away on February 27. Relatives are requesting his temporary release to attend the funeral, which is scheduled for February 28 in the village of Temir, located in the Issyk-Kul region.

Lawyer Nurbek Sydykov also emphasized that the defense has not yet received a copy of the verdict.
