Structural changes are expected in the national security agencies of Kyrgyzstan. According to sources in the law enforcement agencies, the State National Security Committee (GKNB) is set to be reformed with an emphasis on increasing the efficiency of key areas of work.
It is noted that the renewal process will take place under the control of the new leadership of the service. An enhancement of activities in the fields of intelligence and counterintelligence is anticipated, as well as an intensification of measures to combat extremism and terrorism.
Recall that on February 10, the country's president, Sadyr Japarov, dismissed the chairman of the State National Security Committee and his deputies. Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov has been appointed as the acting head of the agency.
In addition, as part of the ongoing transformations, the Border Service has been re-established as an independent structure. A State Guard Service has also been created, which is now directly subordinate to the head of state.
