Sadyr Japarov discussed plans for financing large projects in the Kyrgyz Republic with the head of the AIIB
On February 12, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, held a meeting with Zou Jia, the head of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the press service of the presidential administration reports.

The main focus was on joint efforts to implement large-scale projects aimed at the industrialization of the country, the development of transport infrastructure, and the improvement of Kyrgyzstan's transit potential, as well as support for priority initiatives in agriculture and energy.

Japarov emphasized the importance of sectors such as industry, transport infrastructure, logistics, and energy, including issues related to electricity shortages, and called for active cooperation with the AIIB.

In response, Zou Jia noted that Kyrgyzstan is one of the key strategic partners of the AIIB, emphasizing that the republic is among the founders of the bank. She confirmed the AIIB's readiness to continue financing ongoing projects and support new initiatives that align with Kyrgyzstan's priorities, as well as highlighting the importance of cooperation in infrastructure, transport logistics, trade, and investment, as well as support for the private sector.

Particular attention at the meeting was given to the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 project. The head of the AIIB emphasized its significance for the energy security of the republic and expressed the bank's readiness to consider participation in financing. The bank is also prepared to explore opportunities to support the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, awaiting specific proposals from the Kyrgyz side for further discussion.

In conclusion, she noted that the AIIB will continue to consider financial mechanisms to support the development of Kyrgyzstan and the implementation of its priority projects.
