President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov held a meeting with Zou Jia, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, on February 12. The meeting discussed opportunities for joint work on large projects focused on industrialization, development of transport logistics, and strengthening Kyrgyzstan's transit potential. Initiatives in the fields of agriculture and energy were also considered.
The head of state emphasized that industrialization is one of the key areas for growth and strengthening the country's position on the international stage.
He noted the need to develop high value-added industries, increase processing volumes, and modernize the industry, inviting the AIIB to actively cooperate in this direction.
Sadyr Japarov also highlighted the importance of developing transport infrastructure, emphasizing the strategic goal of making Kyrgyzstan a regional hub. He stated that implementing infrastructure projects in this area would enhance the country's competitiveness and create new opportunities for economic growth.
One of the priority tasks, according to him, is to eliminate the electricity deficit. The president emphasized intentions to increase generation capacities, modernize energy infrastructure, and improve energy efficiency.
He noted that the implementation of large energy projects is of strategic importance for the country.
In addition, the head of state highlighted the importance of investments in road infrastructure to enhance transport accessibility and develop regions, inviting the AIIB to expand partnership on key projects.
Zou Jia, in turn, noted that the AIIB considers Kyrgyzstan an important strategic partner, emphasizing the republic's status as one of the founding countries of the bank.
She highly appreciated the country's economic policy and the positive dynamics of its socio-economic development.
The AIIB president confirmed the readiness to continue financing current projects and support new initiatives that align with Kyrgyzstan's priorities. She emphasized the importance of cooperation in the areas of infrastructure development, transport and logistics connections, trade and investment, as well as support for the private sector.
The construction project of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 was also a focal point. The head of the AIIB noted its significance for enhancing the country's energy security and expressed the bank's readiness to consider participation in financing.
Additionally, Zou Jia announced the bank's readiness to explore opportunities to support the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, awaiting specific proposals from the Kyrgyz side for further work.
In conclusion, she emphasized that the AIIB will continue to explore opportunities for financial support for the development of Kyrgyzstan and the implementation of its priority projects.
