The cabinet is trying to eliminate technical errors in assigning PINs in the "ZAGS" information system.
The First Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies, Nursultan Kubanov, noted that despite the creation of the automated information system "ZAGS," which includes a unified centralized database and control functions, errors still occur. Since the implementation of the system after July 1, 2017, situations have arisen where, when correcting errors such as incorrect indication of gender or date of birth, the control digit of the PIN is automatically changed.
As Kubanov explained, changes to a previously assigned PIN can be made according to a special procedure established by the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution dated April 17, 2025. Corrections are possible in the following cases:
— change of date of birth;
— matching PINs among several citizens;
— presence of errors in data regarding gender or date of birth;
— technical inaccuracies related to the assignment of a PIN (for example, duplication for one person or errors in surname, first name, and patronymic);
— within the framework of legislation on the protection of the rights of participants in criminal proceedings, according to the rules established by the act of inter-agency interaction between bodies implementing security measures and authorized state bodies.
The Cabinet emphasizes that the main task is to enable citizens to resolve issues related to their PIN more quickly.
