Six Countries Will Send Their Military to Greenland
According to information from the German Ministry of Defense, an intelligence mission initiated by Denmark is scheduled for January 15 to 17. "The main task is to explore the possibilities of military involvement to support Denmark in ensuring the security of the region, including maritime surveillance," the ministry clarified.
Thirteen soldiers from Germany will be sent on this mission, flying to the capital of Greenland, Nuuk, on January 15 aboard an Airbus A400M transport aircraft. Norway will send two soldiers, as reported by the country's Defense Minister Tore Sandvik. Additionally, Sweden plans to send several officers to the island, as stated by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
It is also known that France will send its representatives. According to Politico, military personnel from the Netherlands and Canada are also participating in the exercises.
Recall that after the U.S. conducted an operation to capture the president of Venezuela and his wife, Donald Trump stated that the U.S. could take action against other countries, including Greenland. This caused outrage in Denmark, which governs Greenland, and support from many countries, including China. Nevertheless, Trump paid little attention to this — reports first emerged that he had ordered the preparation of a plan for a possible invasion of Greenland, and later Republican Randy Fine introduced a bill in the U.S. Congress to annex Greenland to the United States with the aim of granting it the status of an American state.
