In the Jogorku Kenesh, there was outrage over the bill to reduce state awards.
The idea of abolishing the "Kemenger" award, intended for state and municipal employees, was particularly met with strong opposition.
Deputy Kamila Talieva expressed her dissatisfaction with the proposed initiative.
She noted that the word "Kemenger" is unique in the Kyrgyz language. This award has been given to outstanding figures such as Kaligul Biiy, Barpy, Moldokylych, Moldoniiaz, Zhenizhok, and Sayakbay Karalaev. "Do you want to destroy an entire genre of poetry? One could argue that the author of these changes is an enemy of the people," she added.
Furthermore, according to the proposed amendments, the "El Akyny" award is also planned to be removed.
As a result, the deputies decided to postpone further consideration of the bill for a period of six months.
