The military prosecutor's office has initiated a criminal case regarding extortion, involving the former head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Urmatbek Shamyrkanov. According to sources in the supervisory authority, the case was initiated by one of the ministry's officers.

It was previously reported that Urmatbek Shamyrkanov was removed from his position, where he had worked for less than a month.

According to information provided by the presidential administration, the reason for this personnel decision was data from an investigation indicating possible bribery during his tenure as deputy minister.

Investigative authorities continue to clarify all the details of the incident.

Urmatbek Shamyrkanov, who previously held the position of deputy minister of emergency situations, was soon appointed head of the agency. However, following his appointment, accusations of corruption began to emerge. Against the backdrop of these allegations, he was dismissed, and the case materials were transferred to the military prosecutor's office.

If the investigation confirms the facts of extortion or bribery, the guilty party may face serious consequences, including imprisonment for a term of 10 to 12 years, confiscation of property, and a ban on holding public office in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
