The press secretary of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Askhat Alagozov, commented on the recent dismissal of Urmatbek Shamyrkanov, who held the position of Minister of Emergency Situations.
“A question may arise: why was he dismissed if only a few weeks have passed since his appointment? Does this not raise doubts about the consistency of personnel policy at the highest level?” — noted Alagozov.
The reason for his dismissal was suspicions of corruption related to his previous work as Deputy Minister, where he allegedly received a bribe.
According to the press secretary, in the summer of 2025, he allegedly demanded a bribe for the promotion of one of the ministry's employees.
He stated that part of the agreed amount was transferred to the electronic wallet of U. Shamyrkanov, who at that time held the position of Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations (photo 1).

By the president's order, the General Prosecutor's Office began an investigation into the allegations presented in the statement.
During the investigation, it was confirmed that the facts mentioned in the appeal were substantiated.
As a result, President Sadyr Japarov decided to relieve Urmatbek Shamyrkanov of his position.
“This incident clearly illustrates the saying: ‘A dirty deed will sooner or later become evident.’
However, we are living in a time when such unlawful actions are uncovered not after decades, but within just a few months.
This should serve as a serious lesson for all public servants.
If it is established that someone has committed similar illegal actions, the country's leadership will not turn a blind eye to it, regardless of how much time has passed since the person’s appointment and the potential damage to the reputation of the authorities.
As today, strict measures will be taken,” added the president's press secretary.
