In 2026, Daniil Azhiev was pardoned by President Sadyr Japarov, and he was released on February 17.
Later, the president commented on his release, noting that Azhiev left prison by helicopter, but 15 minutes later the helicopter was turned around and he was returned to the departure point. After that, Azhiev left by car.
