Daniel Azhiev Detained in Tokmok

On March 6, Daniel Azhiev was detained in the city of Tokmok, as reported by sources from the editorial office of "AKIpress Summary."

According to available information, the operation was carried out by police officers.

In 2024, Azhiev was sentenced to 9 years with confiscation of property. The Pervomaisky District Court found him guilty on several counts: Article 160 Part 1 ("Organization or maintenance of brothels for prostitution or pimping for debauchery or procuring"), Article 161 ("Distribution of pornographic materials"), Article 261 Part 1 ("Creation of an organized group or participation in it"), and Article 215 Part 3 ("Causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the court's decision, he was prohibited from engaging in entrepreneurial activities for 2 years, and was sentenced to corrective labor in a general regime colony and a fine of 220,000 soms.

On February 17, 2026, President Sadyr Japarov pardoned Azhiev, and he was released.

The head of state later commented on his release, noting that Azhiev left prison by helicopter, but 15 minutes later his helicopter was turned around and returned to the departure point. After that, Azhiev continued his journey by car.
