In light of the escalation of the situation surrounding the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has made an official statement.

“SCO members express deep concern regarding the situation in the Middle East, as well as military actions directed at Iran,” the statement reads.

The organization emphasizes that the use of force is unacceptable and calls for the resolution of conflicts solely through peaceful means via dialogue, taking into account the interests of all parties and in accordance with international norms and the UN Charter.

The SCO stresses the importance of respecting the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Iran, urging all parties to exercise restraint and refrain from actions that could exacerbate the situation.

The United Nations and the UN Security Council are called upon to take urgent measures to prevent threats to international peace and security.

SCO members also expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks and reaffirmed their support for the people and government of Iran.

The conflict, which began on February 28, when Israel and the United States launched a series of air and missile strikes on Iranian cities and military facilities, led to retaliatory actions from Tehran, which attacked Israeli and American bases in the region. In the first hours following the attack, several high-profile Iranian military officials and officials were killed. The initial actions were termed a military operation "Epic Fury," as reported by U.S. President Donald Trump.

As a result of these attacks, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and about ten high-ranking Iranian officials were killed.

The situation in the region continues to remain tense and unstable.
