The State Committee for National Security detained a suspect in extortion using "connections in the Ministry of Internal Affairs"

The detention occurred after a man known as Ch. R. Zh. deceitfully obtained $500 from Zh. A. Zh., claiming that he had connections with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After that, he threatened his victim with arrest and promised to resolve the issues that had arisen for an additional $2,000. However, as subsequent events showed, Zh. A. Zh.'s trust was undermined. On February 18, during the receipt of part of the bribe amounting to 45,000 soms, Ch. R. Zh. was detained.

As a result, law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case under Article 343 "Extortion of a Bribe" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the suspect was placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.
