66-year-old Andrew was detained on suspicion of committing a public office crime.

Previously, law enforcement agencies reported that they were negotiating with the prosecutor's office regarding the investigation of information that the prince may have secretly passed documents related to the UK government to Epstein. The police are currently analyzing the obtained data to determine whether there are grounds for a criminal case and whether this circumstance requires a full investigation.

In 2019, Andrew was forced to step down from his official duties in the royal family amid the scandal related to the Epstein case. This became known after accusations were made against him by American Virginia Giuffre. Additionally, the prince is mentioned in recently released materials concerning Epstein. In one of the latest series of documents, there were photographs showing Andrew next to an unknown young woman lying on the floor. In early December 2025, King Charles III stripped his brother of all his titles.
